Postcard from France!

Witajcie w Reims! Przeuroczym miasteczku położonym w samym sercu Szampanii. Francuski klimat można poczuć tu dosłownie na każdym rogu (zarówno w tym dobrym i trochę gorszym znaczeniu). Mieszkańcy są bardzo mili, jednak prędzej dogadacie się z nimi pismem obrazkowym niż po angielsku. Ot cała Francja.

Na początku ciężko przywyknąć do półtoragodzinnej przerwy na obiad w środku dnia i sklepów zamkniętych na cztery spusty przez całą niedzielę (i połowę soboty). Ale po jakimś czasie (dokładnie wtedy kiedy mdli Was na widok kolejnej bagietki) można przywyknąć ;) Studenckie życie ma swoje plusy, nie korzystasz tu z uroków życia niczym rasowy turysta ale starasz się przetrwać w gąszczu codziennych francuskich problemów. W zamian za to poznajesz to miejsce tak "naprawdę" i żyjesz w nim całym sobą... po francusku oczywiście. Zobaczcie zdjęcia miejsc, które tworzą moją codzienność :)

Bienvenue à Reims! Charming city in the heart of Champagne. Here you can feel French climate literally on every corner (in both the good and a little less good sense). The residents here are very nice but i think it's easier to comunicate with them with  pictographic writing than in English. It's France. At the begining it's hard to get used to an hour and a half break for lunch in the middle of the day and stores permanently closed on Sunday (and half of Saturdays also). But after a while (exactly at the time when you feel sick seeing another baguette) you can get used to it ;) A Student's life has its positive sites. You don't live here like a trueblood tourist but do everything to survive in the jungle of daily French problems. In return you get to know the place as it "really" is and  to live in it with your all being ... in French of course. Ulice prowincji są dużo bardziej klimatyczne niż wielkie aleje stolicy. Pełne zieleni, kwiatów i kolorowych tramwajów, a górująca nad miastem przepiękna katedra, zdecydowanie pozwala zakochać się w tym miejscu. Pamiętajcie - jesteśmy w Szampanii, tu winnice zaczynają się tuż za blokami a w powietrzu czuć bąbelki szlachetnych trunków! Najlepsze owoce, warzywa i... ślimaki kupicie na sobotnim targu a najtańsze makaroniki w hipermarkecie :P Wszystko to sprawia, że pobyt tutaj nabiera kolorów i pierwsze tygodnie pełne francuskiej paniki odchodzą w zapomnienie :)

The streets of the province have much better atmosphere than the great avenues of the capital. Full of greenery, flowers and colored trams with beautiful cathedral towering above the city. It can definietly make you fall in love with this place. Remember - we are in the Champagne! Here the vineyards start right behind the residential blocks and the air is full of fine wines bubbles! The best fruits, vegetables and ... snails you buy at the Saturday Market and the cheapest macaroons in a supermarket :P All this makes living here more colorful and the first weeks full of French panic are constantly going into oblivion :)
